Quel désastre!!

OK, so a summer of fabric ordering and in & out of my craft room has resulted in a MESS! I was not feeling inspired or happy facing the chaos that has taken over (somehow the chaos in the rest of the house is OK...fixing it would take too much time away from crafty pursuits!).

I saw a great tutorial on folding fabric...YEEESSSS, you read right. I really like folding fabric. I like ironing it, folding it, then I stack and re-stack it into happy little piles. I find that it clears the mind of any worries and fills it with happy pattern and bold colour instead. Mmmmm....soothing and peaceful. OOoohmmmMMMMmmmmm.

I have the world's smallest craft space. I think that it is around 7X8 (that might be generous!) and is shared with the recycling bins. It is small...but I am SO grateful for it! It's the first time that I've ever had a dedicated craft space that was mine. It is such a luxury to be able to leave the sewing machine out. It frees me up to steal a few minutes for sewing here and there (without using up all of that time hauling all of the gear out). It means that I can leave all of my crafty things out on display. It means that I have my very own little "haven". Do some of you feel similarly about the crafty space you have managed to carve out in your life???

Rain, rain, go away...

We awoke to heavy rain this morning and were faced with the problem: "How do you occupy a 2 (and a 1/2!) year old for an entire rainy day??!". Not necessarily easy...and I will confess to resorting to TV for part of the day (Might Machines...makes my son happy).

We also baked sour cream blueberry muffins with lemon glaze.

Not really delicious...I have the feeling that I may have missed an ingredient in my rush to keep up with my "helper" (who had taken to trying to stir the batter with a crazy straw).

After snack I set up an "arts and crafts" station in my sewing room for Evan & I. I had thought that we might create a gift for his daddy's birthday next week. Hmmm....I'm not sure that we were successful....

Exhibit A, Evan's creation:
He tells me that it is a car crusher. I'm not sure what the sparkly glued eyes are about. Perhaps a statement on "the man" watching the proletariat??? Could also be just that he liked the googly eyes and sparkly glue...

Here is my creation:

As you can see, I not only liked the sparkly glue and googly eyes...I also enjoy heavily dyed feathers.

I caught the cat examining our "creations" with a look of disgust some time later.

Everyone's a critic!!

The downpour seems to have halted for a brief moment. Must run and see if we can squeeze in a quick walk to combat the cabin fever!

A Sunday well spent

My son (Evan) was sick over the weekend. This meant that dispite the GREAT weather we stuck close to home.

Evan spent most of Sunday afternoon napping, so I spent most of my afternoon crafting...pure joy!

I have been on a bit of fabric buying binge! You can see the result has been stacks of fabric all over (in fact some are falling over!).

Here is a sneak peak at some fabrics for an upcoming quilt (for a baby girl). I plan to make a coin quilt with these charm packs (Neptune by Tula Pink):

After Evan's nap (and my craft puttering) we headed to the market for cinamon buns and to the garden centre:

All in all - a Sunday well spent! Hope that your day was as enjoyable...
